Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, the number-one-ranked eater in the world, joined the FOX 61 Morning Extra to talk about the Foxwoods World Turkey-Eating Championship.

Chestnut said contestants start with a 20 lb. bird. His strategy is to turn the bird over and start with the dark meat. The greasier meat goes down faster and helps him get the white meat down later. He drinks a lot of water as well during the competition.

He travels all over to eating competitions; shrimp, lobster, and chili are all on plate in the near future. His Super Bowl however is the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island competition on July 4th.

Foxwoods will donate one $30 Stop & Shop Gift Card for every pound of turkey eaten during the championship.  Total donation is expected to be more than $3,500, and will be made to the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center, located in New London.

The 2nd annual Foxwoods World Turkey-Eating Championship will be held Saturday November 21 at 2 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom Pequot Tower at the Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket.
