Police said a man entered the Olde Rockville Tavern Bar, 144 W Main St., with a kitchen knife around 10:45 p.m. and demanded money from the bartender before going behind the counter and taking money out of the register.
The suspect fled, according to police, and two patrons went after the suspect. One of the patrons was able to catch up with the suspect and tackled him. A fight ensued and the suspect stabbed the patron in the shoulder.
The suspect continued on, said police and a second patron got in his car and hit the suspect on the sidewalk twice. The suspect fled again and police found him at 164 West Main St. where he lives.
The suspect, Gene Kelly, 43, of Rockville was charged with assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, and larceny. He is held on $250,000 bond is expected to appear in Rockville Superior Court Friday.
The patron that was stabbed and taken to Hartford Hospital for a serious non-life threatening injury, but he is expected to recover according to police.
