WINDHAM — A woman is dead and another is injured after their car lost control Sunday morning.

The accident happened on Route 6 around 1:20 a.m. According to State Police, Emily Marrotte, 20, of Windham was driving her 1998 Toyota Avalon X westbound on Route 6 when she lost control on a curve.

The car went down an embankment and crashed into the Windham Airport fence. Both Marrotte and the passenger were thrown from the car.

Marrotte was pronounced dead on scene. Her passenger, Lydia Pepin, 21, of Mansfield Center, was airlifted to Hartford Hospital. Her condition is not yet known.

The crash is under investigation.
