HARTFORD–Foodshare has reached its goal!

On Monday at 3 p.m. the food share program said it received enough donations of turkeys to provide Thanksgiving dinner for 16,188 families in the Hartford area. The organization also raised $511,540 to help feed families all year round.

“Witnessing this outpouring of support in my first few months here at Foodshare has been humbling,” said Foodshare President James Arena-DeRosa.

The goal was met with some last minute help from Pastor Mills of New Britain’s Grace Church, who donated 100 turkeys Monday morning.

Businesses like the Billy Grant Restaurant Group, Macca Plumbing, C&S Wholesale, Shoprite, HomeGoods and the Hoffman Auto Group all made large donations as well.
