SOUTH WINDSOR--With the recent attacks overseas, an interfaith service at Temple Beth Hillel in South Windsor had those in attendance sharing love and their fears.
"We are from Adam and Eve. We are brothers and sisters. There shouldn't be hatred. We should respect and love each other,” said Hafiza Naheed. Naheed is Muslim and tells FOX 61 she’s fearful of the division that the terror attacks are evoking across the world.
Additionally, Naheed says, she’s hurt by what she calls the anti-Muslim sentiment she’s observed in the U.S. following the attacks in Paris. “This is a blessing place for me. I love it. I care for this country. We shouldn't be against each other,” said Naheed.
Now in its 50th year, one of the organizers of Monday night’s interfaith service says recent events prove once again why such services are needed.
“The Muslim faith is a very fine faith. Unfortunately, they have some poor leaders who get an awful lot of publicity that instills fear in others. We need to have events like this to show that we can all sit together,” said Rabbi Jeffrey Glickman.
