KILLINGWORTH – The deaths of a couple found in their home Wednesday have been ruled a murder-suicide.

The Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner ruled that Lauren Beebe, 48, was murdered and died as a result of gunshot wounds. Her husband, Billy W. Newman, 57, committed suicide.

Troopers were called to the home on 8 Chester Road just before 8:30 Wednesday morning and said when they arrived, they found the woman and man dead in the same room.

Two young children were in the home at the time, and were turned over to family members and The Department of Children and Families.

According to court records, Beebe had filed for divorce from Newman earlier this month.
