BARKHAMSTED — The Metropolitan District Commission will be conducting a test of the flood warning sirens on Thursday in West Hartland and Riverton.
The tests are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 7p.m. on Thursday, December 3. A voice message will be broadcast prior to each test, stating that it’s a test of the Goodwin Dam evacuation system. Another voice message will be put on after the sirens sound.
The sirens are located at the Goodwin Dam Hydroelectric Powerhouse in West Hartland and near the Grange Hall in the Riverton section of Barkhamsted,
The tests are required by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for all hydroelectric power facilities. All testing has been fully coordinated with local emergency officials. Residents with questions about evacuation procedures should contact their local police or fire department.
