Police call off Amber Alert after child located safely in New Jersey, suspect in custody

BEDFORD PARK, NY (PIX11) — Police have canceled an Amber Alert after safely recovering a 3-year-old who had been abducted from the Bronx after a stabbing Tuesday afternoon.

New Jersey State Police tweeted that they found Diomedes Valenzuela, 51,  and Rebecca Valenzuela on the Garden State Parkway just after 5 p.m.

Officials say Diomedes stabbed a woman multiple times on Perry Avenue in Bedford Park. After the stabbing, Valenzuela allegedly abducted their 3-year-old child, Rebecca Valenzuela.

The victim, 31,  was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where she is in critical condition.

Police issued an Amber Alert for New York and New Jersey.

Diomedes is currently in custody.
