STAMFORD  — Police have arrested a 53-year-old homeless man after he was discovered to be living on someone else’s boat docked at a Stamford marina.

The Stamford Advocate reports   a member of the Ponus Yacht Club notified police Sunday that his 1966 Chris-Craft vessel had been broken into for the second time in about a week.

Sgt. Robert Shawinsky says the victim noticed someone had broken into the boat last week, but because nothing was taken, he moved it to a slip closer to the clubhouse.

After the second break-in, responding officers stopped a man climbing over a fence at the club. Shawinsky says the man admitted to spending nights on the boat because he was homeless.

The homeless man was charged with larceny, burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief.
