Chase, crash, after two cars stolen in Old Saybrook found in Hartford

OLD SAYBROOK — During the investigation of two car thefts that happened early Wednesday morning, Old Saybrook Police determined one or both vehicles were in Hartford.

Hartford police were able to locate the two stolen vehicles but the suspects fled in both stolen vehicles and engaged police in separate pursuits. Both vehicles crashed while being pursued.

Hartford and surrounding police departments apprehended several suspects and are searching for more.

Police said the cars were stolen from the Floral Park and Indian Town areas in Old Saybrook. In addition to the two that were stolen, several others that were unlocked were broken into.

Authorities also found a car that had been stolen in Hebron.

Overnight thefts and break-ins have been plaguing a number of towns around the state, West Hartford, Windsor Locks, Bloomfield and Newington have all had a number overnight car thefts in recent weeks. Police remind people to remove their valuables and lock their cars overnight and remove their valuables.

This is still an active investigation and Old Saybrook Police is working with Hartford Police.
