PLAINFIELD — Plainfield Connecticut schools are working as usual Thursday morning after concerns were raised following a threat to a town with the same name hundreds of miles away.

Around 8:30 a.m. Plainfield police were contacted by officers in Vernon who reported a threat made to the Plainfield High School.

Officers were stationed at all schools in town, and issued lock-down orders for the high school and Shepard Hill School, according to police. Vernon and South Windsor officers along with Plainfield police determined the threat was actually made to the high school in Plainfield, Indiana, not Connecticut, and re-posted by someone in South Windsor. Police said the threat also included a school in Danville, Indiana.

When authorities in Connecticut determined that the threat was not to a local school, the lock-down was lifted.

South Windsor police are investigating the re-post of the threat, but said it does not appear the town resident made any of the threats himself.
