HAMDEN — A deceased woman found in an early morning fire Saturday suffered suspicious injuries unrelated to the blaze, according to police.
Police responded to 28 Lilac Avenue in Hamden around 2am after learning flames had ignited on the property.
Once crews extinguished the fire and established a safe route inside, they conducted search efforts and eventually recovered the body of a 45-year-old woman. Despite the circumstances, State Fire Marshal officials told FOX 61 the woman suffered fatal injuries that were inconsistent with those typical of a large fire.
Detectives also recovered a burned-out vehicle registered to the victim a significant distance away in New Haven.
The Medical Examiner is set to perform an autopsy. Hamden Police detectives and the State Fire Marshal are coordinating an investigation.
