HARTFORD — Police have identified a local man killed in a deadly Christmas morning collision.

Hartford patrol officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of Hamilton Street and Pope Park Highway around 1:30am Friday.

First responders found a man trapped with serious injuries inside a heavily damaged Honda Accord. Hartford Fire Department crews worked with the jaws of life for several hours to remove him from the vehicle.

Luis Fajardo, 29, of Hartford, was transported to Hartford Hospital upon extraction, but later succumbed to his injuries.

The second car had heavy damage, but the driver only had minor injuries. Two parked cars were damaged during the crash.

HPD Crime Scene Division handled the investigation, with clean-up and reconstruction efforts lasting well into the daylight hours.
