BETHANY — State Police arrested a woman they say is responsible for killing an 18-year-old pedestrian on Route 69 North in Bethany on Friday night.

Police say Barbara Ross, 60, of Cheshire struck and killed Robert “Bobby” Weidig Jr., who was walking on the right hand side of Route 69 north, which is also known as Litchfield Turnpike. The crash was near the intersection with Hatfield Hill Road.

News 12 Connecticut reports Weidig was walking to a music and dance event at the barn up the road from where he was hit.

She was not injured in the accident but her car was damaged in the crash, according to police.

Ross was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain proper lane. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at the New Haven Superior Court on January 14.
