HARTFORD - In the new year, there will be a new Mayor of Hartford, replacing Pedro Segarra, who held the post for almost six years.

Hartford's 66th mayor moved into to position in June of 2010 when a corruption conviction forced out Eddie Perez.

Segarra won re-election and used his new term to build the motto "Hartford Has It."

"The educational system, the graduation rates are significantly increased from when I took office," Segarra said of some of his accomplishments. "I think the parks and the infrastructure is a lot better, but more importantly you have a lot of new things that are coming to our city."

Segarra said he'll likely return to social work and practicing law, but admits a return to politics one day is a possibility.
