HARTFORD – Every day babies come into the world, but how many can claim they were the first-born of the year?

Nimson Carr seems to be the first baby born in the state on January 1–he entered the world at 12:02 a.m. New Year’s Day, missing out on being a 2015 baby by just two minutes.

Nimson was welcomed by his parents, Sarah and Alexander, at UConn Medical Center in Farmington, weighing just 6 pounds 1.2 ounces.

Elinor Ann Rothman was born at 12:43 a.m. to parents Emma and Eric Rothmann of Deep River, weighing 6 pounds 7 ounces. She was the first baby born at Middlesex Hospital, and seems to be the first girl born in Connecticut this year.

Meanwhile, Connor Patrick Whitman of Bristol made his debut 11 days early at St. Francis Hospital at 12:59 a.m., just one hour after midnight.

Megan Whitman, Connor’s mom, is a nurse in the maternity ward at St. Francis Hospital.

Connor weights 6 pounds 11 ounces and is 19 inches tall. Megan and Kyle Whitman were thrilled to welcome their first child little early.

Proud parents are Megan and Kyle Whitman – Megan is a nurse in the maternity department at the hospital. Connor is their first child.

At Bridgeport Hospital, Anthony Josiah Rosa joined the celebrations at 1:20 a.m., weighing 8 pounds.

His mother, Julia Serrano, of Stratford, says this is her first child.

At 1:51 a.m. Yale-New Haven Hospital welcomed its first baby of the year, Rylie Ellen Batts.

Julie and Brian Batts’ little girl is 9 pounds and 3 ounces.

At Hartford Hospital, little Aria May Yerukhimovich joined the party at 3:22 a.m. She was the first baby born at the hospital in 2016.

Aria weighs 8 pounds 6 ounces and is 21 inches long.

Her parents, Lillian and Iliya, from Manchester, are excited to spend the new year with their baby girl!

Welcome to the world Nimson, Connor and Aria, and happy New Year’s to their families!
