Beacon Falls crash sends 3 to the hospital

BEACON FALLS – Three people are in the hospital after a car they were in crashed into a utility pole on Blackberry Hill in Beacon Falls.

According to the Beacon Falls Fire Department, a car heading west on Blackberry Hill Road lost control and into the pole at the Oakwood Drive intersection at around 9:30 p.m.

The pole impacted the driver’s side door, trapping the driver, Saldi Hyska, 17, of Woodbridge, though the two other passengers, Ryan Guaruino, 17, of Woodbridge and Matthew Johnson, 17, of Bethany, got themselves out of the car.
It took 12 minutes for firefighters to extricate the trapped driver from the car. He was taken Waterbury Hospital with life-threatening injuries and the other passengers were taken there with non life-threatening injuries.

Eversource was on scene repairing the pole.

State Police were also on scene investigating the crash.
