DETROIT — After a few years of Detroit domination, two foreign automakers have nabbed the honors for North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year.
A panel of about 55 independent automotive journalists selected the Honda Civic and Volvo XC90 today. The winners were unveiled at the start of press previews for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Automakers showed off a number of new modes and concept cars. Kia unveiled its Telluride SUV Concept, a big and boxy SUV with luxury accents. Lexus introduced the sporty LC 500 coupe, and a 4 door coupe concept, the LF-FC. Audi introduced the A4 Allroad Quattro, a CUV / wagon version of it’s popular sedan.
One of the cars expected to be revealed Tuesday is the Lincoln Continental, which was previewed last year at the New York International Auto Show.
