HARTFORD – Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced Wednesday that American Airlines will offer daily nonstop service between Bradley International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.
The new flights will begin in June 2, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a 150-seat configuration. Tickets for these flights go on sale starting Saturday.
“This new flight further connects us to the world – it’s good for business and it’s good for residents,” Malloy said in a statement. “Our future as a state is linked directly to our transportation system, and as we build up Bradley Airport, we are helping businesses large and small. This announcement is indeed another step forward for Connecticut.”
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal released a statement regarding the announcement of the new direct flights:
“This new direct flight from Bradley to Los Angeles will be a major boon to Connecticut—boosting tourism and providing our businesses and residents with expanded, convenient cross-country transportation options. This news, following the announcement of the direct flight to Ireland and the possibility of a direct flight to Jamaica, is a testament to the growing strength of Connecticut’s economy. Having just met with leaders across our state’s tourism industry, I look forward to continuing to support Bradley and the important role that tourism plays in growing jobs and supporting our local economy.”
The American Airlines Bradley-LAX announcement follows the recent launch of United Airlines service to Denver, Colorado and the anticipated introduction of non-stop Aer Lingus service to Dublin, Ireland in September.
