WESTPORT – A truck driver is dead after his tractor-trailer hit a bridge abutment on I-95 in Westport late  Friday morning.

Issiaga Isaac Toure, 40, of Fall River, Massachusetts, was driving a tractor-trailer truck owned by United Natural Foods of Providence, Rhode Island, northbound on I-95 in the right hand lane of the three-lane highway.

Police said he drifted off the road to the right, going through a metal guard rail, then hitting a lamp pole and a metal sign before hitting a bridge support for the Sasco Creek Road overpass.

Toure was declared dead at the scene.

It is unclear why Toure drifted off the highway and the case is still under investigation.
