HARTFORD--The kids are taking over!
On Friday, a special inauguration ceremony was held for Connecticut's kid governor, who serves a one-year term.
Elena Tipton, of East Hartford, was named the kid governor after winning an essay contest. She was up against hundreds of other fifth-graders, but won for her campaign of kindness idea.
And she already has plans to implement an executive order.
"I plan on making the 13th of every month Kindness Day," Elena told FOX 61.
The kid governor program started last year and was created to teach kids about government.
