Hamden Police investigate fatal crash

HAMDEN — Hamden police are investigating a single-car crash that left one person dead.

Police responded around 3:15 a.m. Saturday near Whitney Avenue and Lincoln Street for a report of a crash.

Police say the vehicle was engulfed in flames, and the driver was found dead inside.

Police have identified the victim as Russell Holmes, 46, of Hamden.

The Hartford Courant reports that a preliminary investigation determined the vehicle crossed the center lines before going off the road and colliding with a building sign.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hamden police.
