MILFORD – One of Connecticut’s few remaining Pearl Harbor veterans has passed away.
Jack Stoeber died over the weekend, according to his wife, just before the Milford resident was supposed to turn 98.
Stoeber shared his memories of Pearl Harbor with Fox 61 on a couple of occasions.
He also served aboard the U.S.S. Pickens at Iwo Jima, transporting injured Marines.
There was a brief memorial ceremony with military honors at King’s Highway Cemetery in Milford Saturday morning.
Stoeber’s grave marker will be in the cemetery, but his ashes will be spread out in different locations, including Pearl Harbor.
