HARTFORD — The suspect in the burglary of the Yard Goats stadium took a break from the crime to eat and drink some food and left behind DNA evidence according to police who said they used the evidence to track him down.

Hartford police said they arrested Felix Leon, 39, of Hartford for a series of break-ins during August and September at the construction site of the Dunkin’ Donuts Stadium on Main Street.

Investigators said the suspect ate and drank food in the construction trailers and they found significant DNA evidence. By comparing against a state police lab database, detectives located Leon who was already in jail on unrelated burglary charges. The suspect gave police detailed information about the burglaries.

Leon was charged with eight counts of burglary,  four counts of larceny in the second or third degree, attempted burglary, and eleven counts of criminal mischief.

In September, police stopped another man who was climbing the construction fence.
