HARTFORD -- If you’re in the market for a job, The Home Depot is looking to you. The company plans to hire more than 80,000 associates nationwide. In the Hartford area, 900 jobs will be available between 20 Home Depot Stores.

This hiring spree is to prepare for the store’s busiest selling season, spring. The company is looking to fill positions from sales and cashiers, to operations and online order clerks.

The Home Depot is encouraging college students, retirees and veterans to apply.

Each store hires about 40 to 50 employees this time of year, according to the store manager at the Bloomfield location, Ernie Grab, and the qualifications are simple.

“'We do look for, energetic, upbeat, new candidates to come in and apply here at The Home Depot,” Grab said. “Typically when we hire, we like to hire from our community, to represent our community and to give back as well.”

Right now, available jobs include permanent part-time and seasonal positions; however, last year, more than half of The Home Depot’s seasonal hires became full-time employees.

If you want to apply, you must do so online.

To prepare for the interview, the company is offering out some tips.
