Derby courthouse reopens after being evacuated for suspicious package

DERBY —  A suspicious package caused the court in Derby to be evacuated for a short time Thursday morning.

State police said shortly after 8 a.m. they responded to a report of a suspicious package.  Police said the court building was evacuated and the state police bomb squad  was called in to assist along with Derby police.

The bomb squad determined suspicious package was lunchbox and it posed no threat.

The building has since reopened.
