NEW HAVEN--A Connecticut businessman is using his skills to make students safer while at school.

Tom Crowley, president of Bilco, a company that builds doors, said that his company was perfectly suited to change the way schools protect students. "Specialty access products is the backbone of this company," he told FOX 61.

A new device, called the Barracuda, blocks doors much like a steering wheel lock so that they cannot open, though there is a way to quickly get out in case of an emergency.

The device was invented by Troy Lowe, a SWAT team member who teaches active shooter classes.

The Barracuda was released a year ago, but gained international attention recently after the Facebook page Future X-The Future Is Now released a video of how the device works and it went viral--it's been viewed about 26 million times in less than 10 days!
