HARTFORD -- Fourteen days until pitchers and catchers report means baseball season is getting close and here in Connecticut, all eyes will be on the Hartford Yard Goats inaugural season in the brand new Dunkin' Donuts Park.

But, a delay in construction of the new stadium is forcing the ticket office to make some changes.

According to the Hartford Courant, the Yard Goats front office is working hard to keep fans from demanding refunds of season tickets and businesses from pulling advertising, and so far so good.

Despite not playing 28 of 71 home games in the teams first season in Hartford, officials say no refunds have been requested they are having to get creative with ticket plans for the upcoming campaign.

According to the Courant, Full season ticket holders can add extra tickets to games this year or get vouchers if they aren't sure what games they want or they can opt for discounted tickets for next year. Fans with full season tickets will also be offered free tickets to any road games if they are willing to travel.

The team also announced a new 43-game ticket package. All season ticket holders will be able to check out their seats in mid-April.

The marketing team was proactive with fans when news of the delayed opening surfaced. The team called season ticket holders to alert them of the contingency plans for the season, which was met with very little negative reaction other than the disappointment of having to wait an additional 54 days for the home opener.

Yard Goats President Josh Solomon told the Courant corporate sponsors have remained committed to the team and no one has asked for a refund in advertising.

The team is planning a "home" game in Manchester, N.H., and will also bring players to Hartford for events on off days.

The home opener for the Yard Goats is slated for May 31 against the Trenton Thunder.
