If you’ve driven in New England, you’ve probably accused your fellow travelers of being the worst drivers in the country.

Now there’s a study that actually confirms it.

Every year, insurance company Allstate ranks the 200 largest cities in the U.S. based on accident frequency, or how often the average driver gets in an accident.

It doesn’t explain accident causes, but simply generates the report to highlight the importance of educating people about safe driving.

The worst drivers in the U.S. are in Boston, Worcester and Springfield, Massachusetts; Washington D.C.; and Baltimore, Maryland, and Providence Rhode Island. New Haven and Bridgeport aren’t much better, ranking  189th and 187th, respectively, out of 200.

The best drivers in the U.S. can be found in Cape Coral, Florida; Fort Collins, Colorado; Boise, Idaho; Brownsville, Texas; and Kansas City, Kansas.
