EAST HARTFORD -- Lawmakers, community leaders, and health officials met with members of the community at Goodwin College on Monday night to discuss how to battle the state's growing epidemic of opioid abuse.
Rep. John Larson and Rep. Joe Courtney attended the discussion, which featured a screening of the HBO documentary, "Heroin: Cape Cod USA."
"Opioid and heroin addiction take a devastating toll on our communities," said Larson. "We must do all we can to ensure no one else loses their life or a loved one to the addiction."
Earlier in the day, the representatives hosted the first day of a two-day summit on the issue.
FOX 61's Al Terzi served as moderator for the event.
