NORTH BRANFORD--A former treasurer of the North Branford Youth Basketball League is facing larceny charges after her accounting records for the league showed some inconsistencies.

Police tell FOX 61 Donna Ricci is accused of stealing over $20,000 from the league.

We’ve also learned that Ricci owns two daycares in East Haven and is a real estate agent. We tried to track her down at those locations and at her home to get her side of the story. Someone answered the door at her home but said, “No comment.”

We did speak with the owner of Jay and Lucy’s, who knows Ricci. He’s also a sponsor of the league.

Joe Kaluski says, “It's a terrible thing. It's a terrible thing. I know her. She's great. She's great the whole family comes in here.”

When asked if he was surprised by the allegations, Kaluski said, “I was. I was. She had a daycare business. She's a real estate agent. I hope everything is false because it would be terrible, just terrible.”

We also spoke with Ricci’s former daycare business partner, Jeannie Votto. Votto says after 12 years, she parted ways with Ricci in 2013 due to financial reasons.

Ricci is scheduled to be in court on February 25.
