WEST HARTFORD -- Reports are coming in across the state of damage resulting from a heavy band of rain.

At the Westfarms Mall in West Hartford, a mother, identified as Mirela Ntaplipi, and her young children narrowly escaped injury while in the parking lot. According to a police report, Ntalipi was driving in the lot when the light pole fell on the rear roof of her car. She had two children in the backseat, including one in an infant seat.

Ntapili was taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pain, as were her two children for evaluation. Police believe it was due to the high winds.
