STORRS - Taylor Swift made a donation of $1,989 to UConn's annual HuskyTHON charity dance marathon, according to The Daily Campus.

The pop star made the contribution to match her "1989" album title.

Igor Lekontsev, a fourth-semester accounting major at UConn told The Daily Campus he has been a fan of Swift's music for years and runs a blog about her.

He said it had been his longtime goal to get in contact with Swift, said she surprised him by FaceTiming him on Saturday morning.

The donation was one of many that will benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center as a part of this year’s HuskyTHON event, an annual dance marathon held to raise money for the center.
