WILLIMANTIC — Police arrested a woman who they say pulled a gun on a limo driver, took cash and a GPS and threatened to shoot out the tires on the vehicle.

Police said that just after midnight they were called to investigate reports of a robbery off Jackson Street. They said a woman had rented a limousine for her belated birthday party and after returning to Willimantic, she and the driver got into an argument over the bill.

Police said the woman took the keys from the limousine, ran to her home where she and got a loaded 9mm pistol. She returned to confront the driver and threatened to shoot-out the tires on the limousine. According to police, she reached inside the limousine and took a GPS  device and a clipboard which contained money and her signed contract for the service.

After she left, the uninjured driver called police.  Police said they detained the woman who was still in the area. They said she has a 9mm pistol was located on her.

Melanie Roberts, 50, of Willimantic, was released on a $35,000 bond and will next appear in court on March 18. She was charged with larceny, breach of peace,  robbery, threatening and carrying a firearm under the influence.
