Montville fatal fire

MONTVILLE – Police are investigating a shed fire that left a man dead Tuesday afternoon.

Around 3:40 p.m. Montville Fire Department officials responded to a home on Depot Road and found a small shed fully engulfed in flames.

On Thursday, police announced that there was no foul play involved and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has certified the manner of death was accidental.

Michael Dockray, 53, a resident of Montville lost his life in the fire.

The shed wasn’t attached to the home, and the home didn’t suffer any damage.

The fire was knocked down quickly, but when firefighters searched the shed they found a deceased victim. No one else was injured.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the fire, and State Police detectives as well as members of the state Fire & Explosion Investigative Unit are looking into the cause.

The office of the chief medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how the victim died.
