CHICAGO -- Emergency crews are still working on a two-alarm fire on Chicago's West Side, more than four hours after it broke out around 10:50 a.m.
The fire is in a building that houses a flea market, which is located at 540 W. Haddon. It is just one story, but is two blocks long.
Around 12:50 p.m. the fire was upgraded to a level one hazmat situation because there are many vehicles and flammable items in and around the building.
There were initial reports of people trapped in the building, and one person was rescued. No injuries have been reported.
Cars were parked on the roof of the building and fell in through the roof, which collapsed. Several cars were damaged, and the building is expected to be a total loss.
All firefighters were called out of the building about an hour and a half after responding to the fire, at which point it became a defensive firefighting mission.
