BRANFORD — Police arrested a Branford man Monday on child pornography charges, but this isn’t the first time Frank Cole, 67, has been in trouble with the law.

Police started investigation Cole in late 2014. Police said they uncovered about 1,700 images from Cole’s computer after they took it and later had the Connecticut State Police Forensic Laboratory analyze it.

Police said that once the images were recovered, detectives worked with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to determine the identity of about 50 children, many of whom were located in other countries.

“As far as we can determine, none of the photos have been connected to any children in Branford,” police said in a statement.

Cole was released on a $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Court on March 15.

In July of 2015, police arrested Cole and charged him with first and second degree sexual assault, and risk of injury to a minor. Police received a complaint in May 2014 from an 18-year-old victim who accused Cole of sexually assaulting him from June 2011 to January 2014.
