HARTFORD — A California businessman has submitted enough signatures to appear on Connecticut’s primary ballot as a Democratic presidential candidate.
Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill said Rocque “Rocky” De La Fuente, submitted more than 7,700 petition signatures to join former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders on the ballot. Roughly 7,100 signatures were needed.
Friday marked the deadline for Merrill’s office to tabulate petition signatures for the April 26 presidential primary.
The list of Republican candidates includes businessman Donald Trump, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Ohio Gov. John Kaisch, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Dr. Ben Carson and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
Merrill said the list could change if the candidates who’ve suspended their campaigns formally notified her office of their withdrawal from the race.
