Stafford couple charged with dealing drugs in Vernon
STAFFORD – A couple from Stafford were arrested for dealing drugs out of a Days Inn in Vernon, according to state police.
Police said that John Theriault, 27, of Stafford and Jessie Thomas, 25, of Stafford Springs were arrested Sunday just after 2 p.m. Theriault’s silver Nissan Rogue was seen driving erratically. When police tried to stop his car, Theriault took off but he was caught minutes later on Main Street in Stafford, according to police.
Drugs were in plain sight in Theriault’s car, according to police. After searching his car and the hotel room in Vernon where police said he lived with Thomas, police found cocaine packaged for sale, a bulletproof vest, a .22-caliber magazine, marijuana and packaging materials such as scales, plastic bags, rubber bands, multiple cellphones and $1,000 cash.
Theriault was charged with use of drug paraphernalia, illegal sale of a controlled substance, illegal sale of a controlled substance by a non-drug dependent person, distribution of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, interfering with an officer, criminal possession of body armor and several motor vehicle violations. He was held on $500,000 bail.
Thomas was charged with use of drug paraphernalia, illegal sale of a controlled substance, illegal sale of controlled substance by a non-drug dependent person, distribution of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school and possession of a controlled substance. She was held on $25,000 bail.
Theriault is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Rockville on Monday and Thomas was released.
