Search continues for East Hartford fatal shooting suspect

EAST HARTFORD - Police said a man is dead after being shot in the chest in East Hartford on Friday night.

The shooting took place near 107 Smith Drive around 6:15 p.m. after at least two 9-1-1 calls were placed reporting shots fired nearby.

Responding units found a male victim inside the residence with a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics were unable to revive the individual. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives had initially secured the scene, but plan to return with a second search warrant in order to process more evidence in the home.

Currently, the investigation has drawn a number of potential interesting leads, but no suspects have been confirmed. Police have not released any details regarding motive, nor were there any reported witnesses.

Updates are expected throughout the weekend as the investigation continues.
