LEHIGH, Utah – Breaking out the moves at the freshman dance can be nerve-wracking enough, but having your parents show up on the dance floor is about as embarrassing as it gets.
A Utah couple decided to show up at their daughter’s nineth-grade dance to see what would happen, and the video they recorded is priceless.
“We waited until about 10 minutes until it was over,” the girl’s father Judd Bagley said. “We knew she’d make a little scene but we didn’t know it’d be quite like that.”
In the days leading up to the dance, Bagley said his daughter Beth asked them to promise they wouldn’t act as chaperones for the event.
That’s when his wife turned to him and said, “We have to do it.” They stayed true to their promise not to chaperone the dance – but couldn’t resist a quick visit.
Bagley credits his daughter with having a “shockingly well-refined sense of humor” and says it wasn’t the ultimate high school nightmare it appeared to be.
“What was truly interesting is right after her friends came around and applauded us. They convinced her to feel flattered.”
Now, the only question is what they’ll do for her senior prom. “I think we’ll have to show up dressed as students or something like that,” Bagley laughed.
