West Hartford Police searching for suspect after resident injured during home invasion

WEST HARTFORD–Police need help finding the person responsible for a home invasion and assault.

Around 4:30 p.m. police got a call from a homeowner who said he’d been assaulted while trying to stop a burglar at his home. The man had been home when he heard a noise on the second floor and went to look, and what he found was a stranger.

The burglar assaulted the homeowner, and drove away before police arrived.

The homeowner was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

The home is located on Bloomfield Avenue, near the University of Hartford.

Police say the suspect is a white man in his 30s or 40s, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 with a stocky build. He was driving a clean, newer model hatchback that is blue or bluish and has yellow and black New York license plates.
