CHESHIRE--A 95-year-old veteran was honored not only with replacement military medals, but some new ones to boot.

Staff Sgt. Irvin Daubert met with Rep. Elizabeth Esty in front of dozens of people to be honored for his contribution in the Army Air Force during World War II.

Daubert was a staff sergeant and armor gunner on a B-24 Liberator between January 1943 and 1945, at the height of WWII. He regularly went on missions to drop supplies to the troops, and he came under attack more than once.

But despite enemy combatants and extreme weather, no one in Daubert's crew was wounded during any of his 35 missions.

He is the last living member of his B-24 crew, but was joined by family and friends, fellow military members and local politicians for the event. Daubert has two daughters, a son, four grandsons, and one great-grandson. Leila, his wife of 71 years, died in August of 2014.

Here's a list of the medals he was given on Friday:

  • Distinguished Flying Cross
  • Air Medal with 4 Bronze Oak Clusters
  • Good Conduct Medal
  • American Campaign Medal
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal
  • Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII

Daubert also earned the following medals, but they are no longer issued by the military:

  • Overseas Service Bar for European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal
  • Army Air Force (AAF) Air Crew Member Badge (Wings)
  • AAF Tech Badge
