HARTFORD — To celebrate their 52nd anniversary , Blimpies stores will be offering the first 100 customers a deal on Monday.
The sandwich shops are offering those early customers the regular-sized Blimpie Best for 52 cents.
There are five Blimpies locations in Connecticut, in Windsor, Danbury, Fairfield, Chaplin and the Milldale section of Southington.
The company was started by three high school friends in Hoboken, NJ in 1964. They called their new sub sandwich a Blimpie, a large sandwich filled with deli meat and a salad on top, resembled a blimp.
In 2006, Blimpie became part of Kahala, one of the fastest growing franchising companies in the world headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., with a portfolio of 15 quick-service restaurant brands.
