BRIDGEPORT — A Bridgeport man is under arrest, charged with sexually assaulting a student at Sacred Heart University.
Police said the victim met Alfonzo Reid at a bar frequented by students on March 30. He gave the 19-year-old woman and two friends a ride home, but somehow took her back to his home where the assault took place, police said.
“Obviously we do not believe that this encounter was consensual and don’t believe that the victim went to Reid’s home willingly,” said Bridgeport Police Captain Brian Fitzgerald.
Reid has an extensive criminal history, according to Captain Fitzgerald.
Reid was arrested at his home in Bridgeport around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with sexual assault in the 1st degree. Reid’s home in Bridgeport is about 5 miles away from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.
His bond was set at $750,000. He will be next appear in court April 19.
