HOLLYWOOD — And we’re down to two.

On Wednesday night’s part one of the “American Idol” series finale, Dalton Rapattoni said his farewell, leaving La’Porsha Renae and Trent Harmon to duke it out for the title of last-ever American Idol after 15 seasons.

The announcement came after the top three sang their hearts out out live from Dolby Theatre, performing their possible winner’s singles. Trent sang a song called “Falling,” La’Porshe’s possible hit is called “Battles,” and Dalton’s would-be ditty was titled “Strike a Match.”

After Dalton left, the remaining two first performed a song of show creator Simon Fuller’s choosing, followed by a song of the contestant’s choosing. Fuller picked “If You Don’ Know Me By Now” by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes for Trent, and “A House Is Not a Home” for La’Porshe. The contestants picked Sia’s “Chandelier” and Rhianna’s “Diamonds” for themselves.

On Thursday night’s part two of the two-night finale past Idols like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are expected to perform, and judge Jennifer Lopez will debut a song called “Ain’t Your Momma,” which goes on sale on iTunes after it airs. Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. are expected to sing as well.

Tune in Thursday night at 8 p.m. to FOX 61 for the last ever episode of “American Idol,” and to find out who will be the last star to come from the singing competition that started it all.
