HARTFORD — The death of a Hartford teen first believed to be a suicide is now a homicide and a man will soon face a murder charge.
On Tuesday, January 5, Hartford officers responded to an address on Broad Street. Nasashalie Marie Hoy, 18 of Hartford, was found in a basement apartment with a gunshot wound to her neck. She was taken to Hartford Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A male witness, Torrick Maragh, told police she shot herself. As police searched the scene, they found 2 sawed-off shotguns. Maragh was arrested and charged with 2 counts of possession of a sawed off shotgun and held on a $1 million bond.
Detectives eventually ruled Hoy’s death as a homicide.
On April 8, Major Crimes Division Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Maragh with 1 count of murder. The warrant has a judge set bond of $1.5 million.
Maragh, who is still incarcerated on the shotgun charges, will be served the warrant on his next court appearance, which is set for May 9.
