HIGGANUM - A 10-year-old girl from Higganum is making a big difference at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

Emma Becker collected more than 10,000 containers of Play-Doh through a Facebook campaign. She had boxes shipped to her house that she then donated to the hospital.

Patients can only use Play-Doh once, for sanitary reasons. Still,  this huge giveaway is expected to last for the rest of the year.

"We use Play-Doh for lots of different things," "said Kelly Foy, child life specialist at CCMC." For fine motor skills, for gross motor skills, for emotional expression, art projects, all kinds of different things. So, we go through a lot of it."

"I know how they feel and it makes me happy," said Becker, after donating the Play-Doh. "I think that should spread joy to them when they are sick and not feeling well."

Becker is a patient herself at CCMC. She's also organized toy drives and donated hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards to the hospital.
