UNCASVILLE - The WNBA’s
Connecticut Sun
 is partnering with FOX 61 and WCCT-TV to broadcast seven road games in 2016.

The first broadcast will be from Seattle on May 28 at 10 p.m. .

“We are really happy to announce this new deal with FOX 61 and WCCT-TV,” Sun Vice President and General Manager Chris Sienko said. “We have a very loyal fan-base that has made it clear they would like to keep up with our team on the road. This broadcast schedule will make that possible.”

The rest of the schedule includes:

  • May 31st at Phoenix (10 p.m.)
  • June 12th at Atlanta (3 p.m.)
  • June 26th at Los Angeles (5 p.m.)
  • July 2nd at Dallas (8:30 p.m.)
  • August 28th at Atlanta (3 p.m.)

We have a strong history of providing local sports to our customers, and this partnership will continue to serve our commitment to our viewers," said Jon Hitchcock, VP/GM, FOX 61 and WCCT-TV.

The first independently owned WNBA franchise, the Connecticut Sun have been one of the most successful teams in the league, advancing to the playoffs eight times with five trips to the Eastern Conference Finals and two appearances in the WNBA Finals. First-year coach Curt Miller takes over a talented young lineup that includes 2014 WNBA Rookie of the Year Chiney Ogwumike, 2015 All Stars Alex Bentley and Kelsey Bone and 2016 first-round draft picks Morgan Tuck (of UConn), Rachel Banham and Jonquel Jones.

Connecticut opens the 2016 regular season in Chicago on May 14. The Sun play their first home game on May 21 at Mohegan Sun Arena, hosting the Washington Mystics at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting connecticutsun.com or calling 877-SUN-TIXX.
