HARTFORD -- Thursday is National Superhero Day and to celebrate, super heroes of all kind headed to Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford to cheer up patients.

Familiar faces like Batman, Spider-man, and Captain America got to meet with some of their biggest fans. Costumed window washers even scaled the outside of the building!

All of the super heroes were there to celebrate the kids they call the real heroes.

According to HitFix, Superhero Day began in 1995 when a group of Marvel interns put on costumes and began asking the general public what their desired superpower would be. What's yours?
